Things You Didn’t Know About Can-Am®
Whether you’re a frequent hunter or just like riding the trails, the Can-Am® brand offers something for everyone. As you begin your search for the perfect powersports vehicle, like an ATV or UTV, it’s important to select the right make and model. Here’s a list of things you probably didn’t know about Can-Am®.
1. History
Can-Am products are manufactured by BRP, or Bombardier Recreational Products, which is based out of Valcourt, Quebec. While you may not know much about this manufacturer off-hand, you have likely heard of the several brands they produce! They operate in 107 countries and their portfolio includes brands like Sea-Doo® and Rotax®.
The company dates back to 1937 and has always had a focus on the outdoorsman. For example, their first patent was for a tracked vehicle that could travel over snow. Yes, BRP is known for inventing the snowmobile!
Although their first patent is worth mentioning, it should be noted that the company’s true start was with a two-wheeled dirt bike the year before. Their dirt bike was the first vehicle to officially sport the Can-Am name.
2. Engine Power
Can-Am vehicles are powered by Rotax engines, a company that has been in business for just over 100 years. They know engines and you can expect top performance from these vehicles!
3. They Focus on Mud
The Can-Am lineup offers some of the most diverse off-road vehicles specifically designed to conquer muddy terrain. You can find factory models ready to handle the muddiest scenarios, whether you’re working on the farm or heading to the deer stand.
4. Release of the Side-by-Side
The first Can-Am side-by-side appeared in 2011 when it released the Commander™. Even now, the Commander™ lineup is available and one of their more popular options. In 2016, they introduced the Defender® side-by-side, which was more oriented toward farmers and hunters. The 2016 release also fully immersed the brand into the utility and recreation market in regard to side-by-side models.
5. Customization Options
Can-Am is designed to reflect the exact needs of the owner. You can find amazing accessories and add-ons to make your ownership experience truly unique. Consider custom lighting, colors, power, and features!
Another custom option is reflected in the available models, as well. Each lineup offers different power levels, allowing you to pay for the exact amount of power you need. Whether you want a standard base model or plan to add your own upgrades, the brand is ready to represent your style!
The opportunities are endless with the Can-Am brand. If you’re ready to find your perfect model, our team at Tracy Motorsports would love to help! We are located in Tracy, CA, and proudly serve the Stockton and Modesto areas.
